Fans of Knives: May 15, 2019

This week, check out some super sweet rogue action in the latest cinematic from Blizzard, Safe Haven. Kudos to the team for really nailing Rogue. Oh yeah and there were some other talky fellows too. Totally worth:

As you probably know, we are excited to be able to offer some of our content in Spanish. Our intrepid translator, SouzaCarlos, has the Spanish version of our Assassination Guide ready:

Popular demand had placed a Ravenholdt Patreon on our to-do list, where it languished. But no more, it has leaped off the to-do list and into reality. Check it out and join us. Many thanks to those who already have:

We have exciting news in the world of Ravenholdt today. We will soon be offering our guides and primary content in Spanish as well as in English. So soon, in fact, that our Outlaw guide is already available bilingually. Many thanks to SouzaCarlos for the translation. (Check him out on You Tube!)

A quick note regarding guides: all guides, whether they be ours, Wowhead’s, Icy Veins’, some dude on You Tube’s, or even Noxxic’s, are reflection of their author and, due to updates, hotfixes, etc., are really only truly valid for a short period after their publication/update date. All players are different and everyone has their own style. All guides have to assume certain gear and item levels that may not be a reflection of what you have. We can vouch that the Ravenholdt, Wowhead, and Dratnos’ You Tube guides are a reflection of the current community and TCer’s thinking on the specs and are great for any beginner rogues and anyone switching to the class or switching specs. Any other guides may be for advanced players, players who prefer out-of-the-box gameplay, or may even be created solely for views. If a guide resonates with you or helps you get better, use it. But never take a guide as law and always, always sim yourself.

Speaking of dudes on You Tube, Skwiggle has a new Outlaw M+ guide. Outlaws, get your M+ in while you are on top, Skwiggle-style:

And if you like Infexious-style, Infexious has a melee guide to the first boss in the newest raid, Crucible of Storms. So. Many. Moving. Parts. Check it out:

This week Infexious is all about M+. Not only does he have an Outlaw Guide for M+, but he also has a Mythic+ For Dummies three part breakdown of Shrine of Storms. If you need Rogue M+ pointers or if you are thinking about doing M+ on your rogue (and if not, why not?), this series is for you:

Speaking of Outlaw, Dratnos has part 5 of his Outlaw guide ready for its close up. Got questions about Outlaw, check it out:

Also, Check out Dratnos’ channel for Rogue PoV Mythic boss kills.

Due to popular demand, we have put together a compilation of commonly used Rogue abbreviations. Need a crib sheet? We’ve got you covered:

Doing this thing biweekly is paying off – we have things to talk about. That said, we’d rather be weekly…but enough whining, on to the news.

The always entertaining Infexious is back from break and putting out more content for us. If you run M+, if you play Assassination, if you use energy, if you enjoy listening to dwarves talk, check out his latest vids:

If you hang out on the Ravenholdt Discord, you may have noticed a few organizational changes:

  1. Richard, one of our moderators, has been given administrative rank. Congratulations and thanks to him; he will be (indeed, already has) working towards and influencing the direction of the Ravenholdt assets as we maintain Ravenholdt as your number 1 rogue community. Welcome to the Shadows, Richard.
  2. We have revised our list of Discord Community Figures and added it to the side bar for visibility. These folks are knowledgeable, helpful, and passionate about the rogue class. They write and create guides, they contribute to theorycrafting, simc, and optimization sites, they stream, they represent us in public, they make us better rogues. Along with our terrific moderators they make our Discord a wonderful place for rogues of every WoW flavor. Many thanks to Dratnos, Eleem, wEak, fuu, Giggleblush, grayhound, guy, Kojiyama, Loktark, Mystler, Ronkles, Seliathan, Shiennar, and synecdoche. Go team green!

If you aren’t already a member, come on over, join the conversation, and say “Hey” to these awesome folks:

Have you noticed that Fans has been coming out every other week…ish? You know why that is? That’s because it seems like EVERYONE has IRL right now and very little is going on.

We do have one thing going on, though. Our Battle for Dazar’alor raid guide has been updated with more details. Check it out:

Also, let’s talk about Dratnos. This rogue has rogue PoV boss strats, rogue M+ guides, spec guides, and more. Check. Him. Out. Parts One and Two of his shiny new Outlaw guide are below. Part Three is Coming Soon:

It’s hard to believe it’s February already! 2019 is flying by with little to report in the rogue news department. Yesterday dealt us a bit of a blow with community news, however…

Despite record profits, Activision Blizzard seems unhappy with its direction and has elected to change course resulting in massive layoffs of non-development people while looking to add to their development teams. This is very sad news for the community; we are losing people who have been wonderful bridges between Blizzard and the fanbase, among them CMs Ythisens. All will be missed whether we know them or not and I’d like to take this opportunity to say Thank you and Best Wishes to all. Our friends at Blizzard Watch have a write up:

And now for something more positive: check out this stunning piece that artist Kru created of Anne Stickney’s rogue:

Battle for Dazar’alor, the second raid in Battle for Azeroth, is now live. Tisumi, Loktark, and Seliathan have put together a wonderful raid specific DPS guide for all three specs. Note that much of our initial information comes from PTR testing and educated guesses. This living document will be updated as the authors experience the raid on live first hand, and as updates and changes are applied.

This guide will include boss specific Tips and Tricks. If you figure out something that should be noted, let Tisumi know or respond in the comments. For the past few raids, Kistler has done a wonderful job of curating these for us. Many thanks to him for all the hard work.
